Mumbai: A major fire broke out in a chemical unit in Turbhe node of Navi Mumbai on Sunday evening, killing at least 12 and injuring several others, according to media reports.

Fire engines and firefighters from Vashi, Nerul, Turbhe MIDC D-block and Pawane ERS  arrived at the factory, the report said.

At least six fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire, an official said without elaborating.

In another fire incident in Saki Naka, Andheri, six workers were injured while several others were believed to be trapped in a shop on Monday.

The owner of the shop told officials that 10 to 15 people work in the shop, according to Hindustan Times. Fire brigade officials managed to pull out six people from the rubble until Monday morning. The report added that the injured have been admitted to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar.
