New Delhi, December 15: Jitender Jha, the Indian Defence Accounts Services officer, who has been missing since December 11, was found dead on Thurday. Jitender Jha’s body was found on railway tracks in Palam area of south Delhi. The police have also recovered a suicide note from near Jha’s mutilated body.
An unidentified body was found on the intervening night of December 11 and 12 on the railway tracks in Palam. It was identified as that of Jha after a wallet was found. A purported suicide note was found from his pocket, in which he said that no one was responsible for his death, they added.
Jha, a 1998-batch officer, had left his home on Monday to drop off his children to their school bus and then returned home. He went out again a little later but left behind his phone, the police said.
Jitender Jha, who was regarded as a no-nonsense officer. His family had alleged a foul play. The police said it is probing the case from all possible angles.
Bhawna Jha, the officer’s wife, alleged that her husband was not happy about the frequent transfers. Jha, originally a resident of Bihar’s Supaul, had reportedly been transferred multiple time in the last six months. It is suspected that Jha was upset over something as he was not going to office and was on medical leave from September 28, the police said.
The Delhi police had earlier said they obtained CCTV footage which might be helpful in tracing Jha. The video, however, provided no substantial lead in the case.
