New Delhi: Former Defence Minister A.K. Antony’s driver on Friday committed suicide at the official residence of the senior Congress leader near Jantar Mantar.

Police said the deceased, Sanjay Singh, 35, a native of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, worked as driver of A.K. Antony and his family.

Singh was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the servant quarters of the Jantar Mantar Road residence around 12.15 pm and the police were informed.”No suicide note was found from the spot. Prima facie, Singh committed suicide late at night after all staff members had gone to sleep. When he did not come out from his room till late in the morning, a staff member went to check on him. He saw Singh hanging from a ceiling fan,” Additional Commissioner of Police B.K. Singh said.”During investigation, no foul play has come to the notice of the police team”.

While the body has been sent for post-mortem, the police are trying to ascertain the cause behind the suicide.

It appears that Singh had been depressed over some family problem for a couple of days. He had been working for Antony and his family for the last few years,”  B.K.Singh added.
